Our New Home

Making and Repairing since 2025 — and planning where we’ll do it next

Mersea Shedders started in a garden shed. A few of us got together to repair things, make things, and — just as importantly — talk. Since then we’ve fixed treasured items for people across the island, taught each other new skills, and become a place where nobody has to be on their own.

But our little workshop can’t keep up. We’re working on plans for a permanent home for the Shedders, with room for everyone who wants to make, repair, learn — and share the coffee.

The plan (in progress)

We’re exploring a permanent workshop home on the West Mersea allotments.
What we’re aiming for:
A fully equipped workshop space for woodworking, repair and making
Our laser cutter/engraver properly housed and available to all members
Room to run workshop sessions where people learn design and making skills
A warm, dry, accessible social space — the tea and conversation are as important as the tools.
